Dongfang Electric Corporation  is located in the beautiful and rich “land of abundance” -  Chengdu  in  Sichuan  Province.  Established i n  1984, it is one of the largest enterprises in China engaging in the manufactures of generating equipments and the contracts of generating station projects, at the same time it is also confirmed by  Central  Party  to  be  one  of   the  substantial state-owned enterprises relating to national    security   and  economic  vital.  It  has been listed among  the  225 largest international contractors.  

During the past many years, Dongfang  Electric Corporation , by carrying forward the enterprise spirit of “keep in mind the lofty ideal, pursue for the excellence, take  the  talent persons as  principal,  and carry out the exploitation and  innovation ”, has cultivated and forged a superior engineering technical team of more than 5000 members,  which  consists  of the  academicians  of  China Engineering Institute,  the experts  of  national  and  provincial  levels,  the  science  &   technology  personnel enjoying  the  special  subsidies  from  government,  as  well  as  the high and middle professional  technical  personnel  and  senior  technicians.  

The generating equipments  of  Dongfang  Electric  Corporation  of  China have  the  yearly  capacity  of  10,000MW; it is capable of producing the large thermalpower generating  units  of  300MW  and  600MW,  and  water  turbine  generator  sets  of 400MW  and  550MW  in  batch  quantity.  The  production ability of batch producing extra-large water turbine generator sets of 700MW has come into being; at the same time it can also produce the nuclear power units of 1000MW.  

At present, Dongfang Electric Corporation of China occupies more than 30% of the  domestic  main engine market  of  large  thermalpower  stations,  and up t o 40% of hydropower market.  

 The  total  foreign  contracting  sum  of  the corporation is 2.95 billion  Dollars ,  which  contributes  about  0.7 billion Dollars of foreign currency.  

Dongfang Electric Corporation  sticks  to  the  overall  development of the large,  medium and small hydropower, thermalpower and nuclear power units, takes the guideline  of  “multi-business and one principal”. The corporation has shaped up the integrated  production  capability  on  the  basis  of  main  unit  supply  of  generating equipment, complete set supply, contract of generating station project, import-export trade, and capital accommodation.  

In the past many years, Dongfang Electric Corporation of China has made rapid progress in the innovation of technologies. It has made proud achievements and  important  phrase  successes  on  the  numerous new technology aspects of pressure  equipment  technology  of  1000MW nuclear power station, 300MW and 600MW “W” flame anthracite boiler technology, Boiler technology of large circulating fluidized  bed ,  600MW  sub-critical  steam  turbine  and  generator  technologies, research and  manufacture of air-cool unit of above 300MW, manufacture of Francis turbine generator with  the  unit  capacity  of  700MW,  research and manufacture of 600MW  above-critical  generating  units  and  the  development  of    heavy internal combustion turbine technology. At the same time, in addition to the main businesses, the  corporation  has  also  achieved   outstanding   results   or   made     substantial progresses  in  the  high-tech  divisions  of high-voltage high-power frequency conversion, treatment of city pollution, driving engine of electrical car, environmental protection and DCS control system of generating station.

Currently, Dongfang Electric Corporation of China is one of the bases for the domesticity of state substantial technological equipments. The technology center of the corporation has the first-class integrated technology developing capacity in China generating equipment manufacture industry, which is confirmed to be national enterprise technology center by national economic & trade committee and other committees.  

The quality of the products of Dongfang Electric Corporation of China is superior. The 300MW steam turbine generator, 300MW coal powder boiler and 320MW water turbine generator are all accorded with the Golden Award of national high-quality product.  

Dongfang Electric Corporation of China has produced 84 sets of steam turbine generators, 85 sets of steam turbines for generating station, 72 sets of boilers for generating station in 200MW Class; and 77 sets of steam turbine generators, 74 sets of steam turbines for generating station, 67 sets of boilers for generating station in 300MW Class, among which the 300MW thermalpower main units have been tested in more than ten generating stations in Zouxian of Shandong Province, Shalingzi in Hebei Province, Zhanjiang in Guangdong Province, Anshun in Guizhou Province and Guangan in Sichuan Province etc.   

Dongfang Electric Corporation of China has generally contracted more than 60 large and medium generating station projects inland and abroad, the total sum is up to 29 billion Yuan. The complete and on-building projects includes Shengli generating station, Shouyangshan generating station, Tuoketuo generating factory, Bengal Great Harbor generating station, Alake generating station in Iran, Baluota Hydropower station in Pakistan etc. The products of Dongfang Brand are exported to more than 20 countries and districts in the world. The contract projects involve over 10 countries and districts.
